Robert Eggleton
In 2006, I created the Lacy Dawn Adventures project (www.lacydawnadventures.com_) and my first novel, Rarity from the Hollow, was published by a short lived ebook publisher started by the Acquisition Editor for the University of Michigan Library. For promotional purposes, three short stories were published in 2 print magazines and one e-magazine. In 2012, my novel was reprinted. Since I’m a therapist in a community mental health center, half of author proceeds have been donated to Children’s Home Society of West Virginia where I live. Professionally, I've advocated for children and youth issues since 1974. When I retire in a couple of years I hope to write SF/F nonstop. Unfortunately, sales of my first novel have been poor despite several glowing book review and blurbs, including by the Missouri Review, Darrell Bain, Piers Anthony, Barry Hunter, and others. I believe that several factors may have contributed to my lack of success: poor self-promotion skill by a novice in social media, a mixed genre, book covers that didn’t target a SF/F audience, lack of funds to promote by the small presses, etc. I appreciate receiving the announcements from this forum. Thanks.
