any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

I have to run. Only had time to watch the first minute of the video linked. The curvature shown in the video is caused by the wide angle lens used. I have lots of photographs taken with a 21mm lens where vertical objects such as trees and tall buildings are apparently tipped at odd angles from...

any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

That's fine. As the title/header of this thread mentions, I was primarily interested in hearing from people who ascribe to this theory. So far, Number7 came the closest, and he was merely open minded.

We had gyroscopes to play with when I was a kid. They had a diameter of about 3 inches. You'd wind a string around the shaft that supported the disk that spins; pull the string as fast as you can and the gyroscope would spin. These came with a little stand that you could set the spinning toy on...

any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

Nice image. If you ask me if this proved to me the moon is a sphere, at this point, I'd have to say, "No, it doesn't prove that at all." The image, if it is genuine, shows that the moon appears to have a round shape to it. I say "if it is genuine" because I was not there when they were taken...

any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

You're free to believe what you want. No one's trying to convince you of anything. I do fail to understand the reasoning that says because I look at the moon and see that it is round and light shades to darkness near the edges at times that proves the earth is round and spherical instead of flat.

any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

I'm not saying the earth is flat. I also don't "know" that UFO's exist, or that earth is/has been visited by physical or inter-dimensional beings from a solar system other than our own. I simply don't know, but that doesn't mean these things aren't real. - If the circumference of the earth is...

any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

The concept of physics breaking down is sort of the point of those who genuinely believe the earth is flat, or at least not the sphere theorized in Copernicus 500 years ago. They believe the heliocentric solar system is an intellectual concept, and that other concepts also account for the same...

Figure of the Earth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For your benefit I'm posting the link below; it's the same link that was posted in the thread entry above. Here's the like again: Figure of the Earth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Which shape pictured at that link represents the...

any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

I tracked down the video I'd watched previously at: The chart below is shown at approx. 55 minutes into the video: From a given observation point on a spherical object having a circumference of 25,000 miles, there will be an apparent elevation loss in all directions as the distance from the...

any Flat Earth adherents out there ???

To restate the question, what is the distance of the horizon from a given observation point at sea level, and how much more distant does an object 100 feet tall need to be to disappear beyond the horizon? Here's a link to one Flat Earth site. I don't know if this is the "legitimate" site or if...

    Online Metaphysical Course?

    - Practicing or worshipping was not on my mind with what I wrote above. Over the decades I've toyed around with just about every conspiracy theory that's been created. I also believe that focusing one's attention onto something has an effect upon the world that goes beyond our personal...

    Instrument soundboard ...

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I hear that glass is too brittle sounding for my purposes; not mellow enough.

    Instrument soundboard ...

I'm looking for material to be used for making a soundboard for a new instrument. Most guitar soundboards are 3/16" thick; this one needs to be 1/4" thick as it's being shaped with a bit of an arch to it. Archtop guitars use a board that starts out at least one inch thick. - I'd like to use a...

A Mysterious Box in a Dumpster – What Was In It Baffles Everyone

The box itself seems to be a typical artist's portfolio. These were used to hold and transport sheets of large format paper flat during the 19th century. These boxes were made of veneers (early type of plywood). They were largely phased out by less expensive materials, probably during the 1950's...

What If We're Missing A Sense?

Can you imagine the sense of proprioception? Can you feel the sensation of your body monitoring the salt content of your blood stream? We all have intuition; some of us pay attention to it, others don't. - I often find myself appreciating my bull s_it detector. If I hadn't consciously worked to...
