In the atmosphere hotter temperatures are usually part of high pressure zones. The pressure zone is what moves. The higher pressure allows more heat radiation capture from the sun. Heat can transfer through the atmosphere from convection, direct contact thermal radiation, and heat radiation from the sun. It is not usually described as weight. I've never come across any type of math formulas transferring heat energy into weight either. Although I'm sure it could be done.
