Having a bad day? Well, spare a thought for the 23 tonnes (25 tons) of fish that were swallowed by a sinkhole in China.

The strange event occurred at a fish farm in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Reports from New China TV claim that the farmer saw the water level in his pond dramatically drop in the early hours of March 24. By 9 a.m., the almost-empty pond revealed a gaping hole. Along with swallowing gallons of water, the hole also devoured the vast majority of the farmer's fish.

The farmer had owned the farm for five years and produced around 27 tonnes (30 tons) of fish annually. He believes the incident has costed him 23 tonnes (25 tons) of fish and will leave him with losses of up to 500,000 yuan ($75,000)

Although this area of southern China is no stranger to sinkholes, the exact cause remains a mystery. Sinkholes can be caused by an array of factors, such as the collapse of a cave roof through water erosion, chemical erosion, or human activity. Many of the area’s local people, however, are blaming the mining activities of a nearby quarry.

Clearly this is retaliation on the part of the fish against the farmer who had killed all the fishes predecessors...
Those fish obviously were given warnings about what would happen to them and they cleared off quickly ;):D

@TimeFlipper That hole, they dug it themselves in order to escape to an underground river or something!
