Unfortunately in the world of the military, black flag operation is a term that's thrown around A LOT. Black flag operations with an S, are operations that are carried out during black flag weather which is weather that is over a certain temperature. I was also involved in a black flag operation called Nighthawk one time that was just a simple DUI checkpoint on base. American's are fascinated with pirates.. so anything involving black flags jsut seems to make the officers get a hard on for naming their operations no matter how frivilous. Then there are black flag establishments. These places near military bases that are off limits to the troops for whatever reason. In the Middle East they'd have black flag establishments wherein they'd hang a black flag outside their doors of their store/bar whatever and that means that Americans are not welcome. Good info, but just wanted to throw a few more examples of Black Flags out there because as soon as you mention black flag.. people's ears perk up, I don't care who you are, it happens.
