Steve Wynn is afraid of Obama's 'crazy anti-business programs'

American business magnate Steve Wynn admitted that he is "afraid" of President Obama because of his "goofy ideas" and "crazy anti-business programs," in an interview yesterday with Nevada political journalist, Jon Ralston.Steve Wynn is a well-known, well-respected businessman and Nevada casino mogul, a long-time Democrat and a strong supporter of Harry Reid. Yet Wynn openly stated yesterday that he no longer supports President Obama, and that he and other businessmen are genuinely worried about the direction our country is headed.

"I've created about 250,000 direct and indirect jobs, according to the State of Nevada's measurement. If the number is 250,000, that's exactly 250,000 more than this president [has created.]... I'll be damned if I want to have [President Obama] lecture me about small business and jobs. I'm a job creator. Guys like me [and Mitt Romney] are job creators, and we don't like having a bulls-eye painted on our back.

"The president has tried to put himself between me and my employees [through] class warfare, by deprecating and calling [us, the] group that makes money, "Billionaires and millionaires who don't pay their share." I gave 120% of my salary and bonus away last year to charities, as I do most years.
"I can't stand the idea of being demagogued; that is, put down, by a president who's never created any jobs and who doesn't even understand how the economy works."I'm afraid of [another term for] President Obama. I have no idea what goofy idea, what crazy anti-business program [his] administration will come up with. I have no idea. And, I have to tell you John, that every business guy around the country is frightened of [President] Barack Obama and the way he thinks."

Professor, this isn't exactly on topic, but hope you don't mind if I share here...

DAYS IN VEGAS WITH STEVE WYNN: I worked for Steve Wynn as a Blackjack and Baccarat Dealer at the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas for awhile in 1976 during a time when I was temporarily laid off from Circus Circus. Sometimes Steve did fun stuff, like had a professional make-up artist make him into someone unrecognizable. One night he sat down on my game dressed and made up as an old man. It was fun.

The only drawback working at the Nugget that I had been warned about from other dealers was that pretty women dealers were often forced to go upstairs into the office for sexual favors. Steve never approached me with a proposition, but my Shift Boss did a few times. Most women gave in, but I refused. Even after the Shift Boss threatened to fire me, I didn't comply.

Card dealers couldn't be a minute late or miss a day's work without a good excuse, as it was grounds for getting fired. After I refused the Shift Boss's sexual harassment, he tried a few times to get me fired. My weekly schedule had me down for a 12-8 p.m. shift. Those are the hours that I worked. I always showed up at 11:30 a.m.

On two occasions, I was told that I was fired for being late. When I looked at the schedule, my normal work hours had been 'whited out' and replaced with a 10 a.m.-6 p.m. schedule the night before. One of the other Bosses told me my Shift Boss did it, because I wouldn't sleep with him. When I explained that the schedule had been altered, another Shift Boss kept me on.

Three weeks later, I had to call into work for a family emergency. I had to rush someone to the hospital Emergency Ward, otherwise she would have died. I called in with plenty of time to get a substitute dealer, but and I got canned anyway.

It was the only time in my life that I got fired, but I didn't mind as I would never give in to sexual harassment for a job. Sexual harassment of women was commonplace back in those days, especially in the casino business. (TV Series "Man Men" depicts it mildly, but that wasn't exclusive to the Advertising business.) In my other casino jobs, I had plenty of "Juice", another name for 'high-up connections', so I didn't encounter that problem anywhere else.

That's what I think about every time I hear about Steve Wynn. I don't know if he ever knew or participated in that kind of behaviour towards women dealers, but some of the Bosses who worked for him sure did. Rumors had it that Steve did it too, but I didn't see it, so I don't know if it was true or no.
