Will the earth stop spinning and what would happen? For anyone that believes in the Pole Shift...this would happen. When Planet X passes between the sun and the earth, it's north pole will repel earth's north pole causing a pole shift. Before this happens the earth will stop and spin in the opposite direction. Of course just imaging water moving in one direction and after the switch it will still be moving in the same direction as before the shift. This is what you would call one big wave coming to a coast near you. The sun would rise in the west, which in itself would be interesting!
