Climate Change
Throughout history, the Earth has gone through ice ages and drought ages.
Right now the polar ice caps are melting at an incredible rate.
This will make the Earth hotter.
Greenland has land under its ice. That means water levels in the world will rise.
That means that most likely, the human race may be living in Canada, Siberia and Greenland.
If they live in the south, they will be living in caves and underground. It will be too hot.

Socialism and Terrorism
North African young men are rising up and demanding better wages, raises, and a say in political power. They are also calling for the end of corrupt wealthy dictators who steal their taxes. However, within these Democratic Socialists rebels are terrorists who will promote Islam by bringing death to Europe and the U.S.
We will have suicide nuke bombers come to the U.S. and detonate in many U.S. cities.
That is why none of us will be living there.
Treating radiation in the water will need to become a focused science.

Economics and Unemployment
Better software and robotics will continue to increase unemployment.
The government is doing nothing to help employ people.
The DOW, DAX and Asian markets are crashing due to low wages and unemployment.
That means that unemployed people will need to learn to live outside and subsistence farm as well as learn to barter and shoot weapons. They will need to learn to rely on their neighbors for protection.
The U.S. will disband into several territories.
Everyone, even children will be in the armies.
All of us will have military Social governments.
We will be fighting mostly for land and water.
We won't have a problem with electricity and sanitation.

Given that this is a 'what if' thread and not an actual TT thread, I presume I can debate these points?

I think your presumptions about climate change are bit off. In the worst case scenario, if all the ice on Earth melts then the sea will rise by a mean 15 metres globally. I seem to remember that that means a reduction of about 7% of the available landmass. Not much really, just means we move the fishing fleets and dockyards inland as it where. Globally, temperatures are expected to rise by no more than 10 degrees C, 15 maximum, probalby about 5 degrees C though. Humans can cope with that, so can the animals.

The events in Africa and the Middle-East are symptomatic of spreading Smith-Capitalism and in themselves are nothing to fear. Everyone wants what the West has had for a long time and if you want to study it microscopically, look at the Ireland situation from 1990 to 2005 and you'll have an idea of what to expect in the near term. Unlike Ireland, there isn't an occupation of foreign nationals in these emerging countries, so you won't get the same level of resistance to rule and regime change.

It's unlikely that human PND's (Portable Nuclear devices) will be set off in the US. Most of the missing Soviet stuff is falling below weapons grade day by day and the proliferation of unfriendly fissile material is prevented by every sane thinking Nation on Earth. Treating radioactive water isn't that big an issue and we've developed the science to do that long ago.

As for the militarisation of Nations in the scrabble for water, I also think you're way off base. Africa is currently being developed to expand the human food supply and de-salination technology has come on in leaps and bounds. The two coupled together stand a good chance of preventing food and water wars. The beauty of the current economic stress is that it will pass, it always does and a new level is found that satisfies the markets. So, we won't need to militarise our Governments, learn to shoot, or break up the US for these reasons. Other reasons may well stress Global Security and we may see more smaller conflicts, but I don't think WWIII is just over the horizon.

I already farm my own crops and I do that to reduce the amount of 'treated' foods we eat in my home. My neighbour does the same. It's no big issue as the UK has had a healthy attitude to this practice since before WWII. It's common across Europe and the Far East.

The computers and software issue that you raised is probably where you are most on track here. I feel a technology revolution is already under way that is 'teching-up' the individual in preperation for teching-up our world in a manner that will make us supernumeray to many of the roles that we have carried out. It would be nice if the technology was an adjunct to our existence but, I fear the opposite may well be the case.

Well, who wants to be a pessimist? Life's too good to worry yourself to death over these things. If I am going to be vapourised tomorrow, i'd like to go with a smile on my face.

I don't think that this flooding, less land, contaminated water and land is going to come to pass. At least not as you predict.

As for the jobs... Governments are in the business of making money and looking after themselves. There's no profit in full employment, part-time mothers doing a job and everyone paying taxes any more.

That's a bit old hat. One former member here predicted the economic downturn 4 years ago on another site and stated then that the US would lose its AAA rating. He was very, very specific about his predictions and no-one sees him as a TT, just a guy with a job and a keen understanding of economics.

What can you learn from this exercise?

Stop thinking that time and space loses meaning. Nothing can be understood without time and space. Time and space is the only constant and nothing can be understood without it. You're philosophically going in the wrong direction.

Imagine your video recorder is so powerful that it creates a temporal past reality.
This past world is not the true past world.
But it is energetically connected to the true past world.
In this virtual temporal past reality, your future self walks around to interact with temporal past things.
