Why are UFOs too stupid to disguise themselves?

While I was walking home from dinner, I saw a hot air balloon floating around.

It made me wonder why, with all their perceived technological superiority, are aliens too damn stupid to disguise their ship as something a little less alarming?

If us Earthlings were to visit a distant planet, and feel the urge to explore things a little closer, the obvious and best choice would be to disguise some kind of craft that could sail around without looking conspicuous.

This gives me the idea that

1. They aren't alien spacecraft
   OR
2. They're too stupid to know how to be discreet
   OR
3. They WANT to be seen

Thoughts?

Maybe they think we're too stupid to figure out what they are ?

If they really are UFOs, what are they doing, why are they looking around like that ? The most probable answer would be that they want to study us, but I think they should be able to see us from space.

Also, why can't they cloack their ships like the Klingons, they are supposed to be evolved enought to travel through very long distances in space, why can't they create an invisibility device???

There are too possibilities:

1) UFOs are really stupid.
OR
2) UFOs aren't alien ships. (!)

Oh, and I fully realize my pictures suck. I had my camera phone on the setting necessary to send photos via text message instead of the 2 megapixel setting it's capable of.

I think they don't care about hiding theirselves because they don't see us as a threat.

Their like 'Yeah, we're looking at you, we don't care you can see us, pfft' haha.

aliens are kind of like those neighbors who look at you in your house from their house and dont look away even when you notice them. thats when you have to take your clothes off to show them whos boss and stop the staring game

maybe aliens really do rape people

Maybe they're unmanned probes, not expecting anything to see them at all.

Shane, like they don't realize we're here and their just checking things out?

I think if they knew we were here, they would definately have something to hide themselves, that's if they cared about hiding themselves.

I like the theory that UFO's are really just us, from the future.
