Are scientists close to finding the 5th force of nature?

"Scientists claim they have observed a fifth force of nature that could transform our understanding of how the universe works."

They believe it links to dark matter.

I'll take a wait and see attitude and see if the experiment is verified by other labs. I don't quite understand why they didn't use current physics to explain it. Neutrinos come in a variety of configurations and could easily be used to explain what happened to the helium atom.
