The guys used a TCoil as the power source for the scaled down " death ray " which, yes is possibly a very primitive laser or very large taser.
I think in the first ep. dude said that if the small scale worked, the full scale model will use a different power supply.
What about Trumps uncle? I hadn't heard anything about those people having anything to do with Tesla.
It is on the app and the History Chanell did an episode about it too....
