Cairo, Illinois - Centre of the world.

I didn't know which forum to put this in or how serious about it to be.

The city of Cairo, Illinois has seen better days. Population 1,611 - down from 15,203 in 1920. It used to be a major place to be - being exactly on the confluence between the Ohio and Mississippi river, and also the confluence of essentially 5 states - IL, Missouri, Kentucky, and if you're being generous, Arkansas and Tennessee. Before plains and interstates, it was extremely promising, but since then, it has been struck by decrepitude and racial violence, amongst many other things.

It received minor acclaim as a location in American Gods by Neil Gaiman as an important location which is what turned me on to it in the first place. In the book it's a focal point for certain egyptian deities.

I noticed that things often seem to cross over there. The first thing that stuck out was the eclipse(s). The two most recent total eclipses in America crossed over approximately right over Cairo.

Then I looked into it and found:

1. The western interior seaway stopped here.
2. The previous ice age glaciers stopped here.
3. The previous total solar eclipses crossed over here.
4. It is adjacent to the New Madrid fault, meaning it's right at the centre of many large earthquakes, particularly the 1812 earthquake.
5. Cicada Brood XIX (17 year period - emerging 2024) and XXIII (17 year period emerging 2028) overlap here. I'm a little disappointed they'll never emerge at the same time.
6. It narrowly missed the path of the create 1925 "Tri-state Tornado" and another subsidiary tornado.

And then tropical storm Beryl passed right by it:

Then those nasty storms in June had a front centred right over Cairo.

And now Hurricane Helene ends right on top of it.

So, Cairo, Illinois was once considered an abandoned ghost town and they claim it was due to Racism and flooding. Current population as of 2022 is 1733.
I'm trying to find out if there are any mysterious anomolies going on there.
