Radio Astronomers could be close to unravelling one of the greatest mysteries of Space of all time...This year the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME) Radio Telescope, detected 8 new repeating Radio Signals known as "Fast Radio Bursts"(FRB) lasting only milliseconds.....I believe the Radio Telescope was focusing upon the Resonant Frequency of Hydrogen, being 1.42 Ghz or 21 centimeters....The source of the Burst emissions is still unclear, but scientists are particularly fascinated by "Repeaters"...

Repeaters where a single Radio pulse repeats itself, were known since the very first Fast Radio Burst (FRB) was found in 2007...Theories of their origin range from highly magnetised Neutron Stars blasted by gas streams from a nearby Super-Massive-Black Hole, to a "Signature of Technology from Advanced Civilisations"!!...

Fast Radio Bursts are best loved by people (ClassicalFan, and Me included) who are interested in the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) for short...
The core principles of that organisation are somewhere else in the Universe, technologically advanced life could exist and have realised just as we humans did, that Radio Waves are a great way to send information across extremely long distances!..

Astronomers Detect Regular Rhythm Of Radio Waves, With Origins UNKNOWN!!..
A team of astronomers including researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has picked up on a curious repeating rhythm of Fast Radio Bursts (FRB) emanating from an unknown source outside our Galaxy, 500 Million Light Years away!..

This new FRB source, which the team has catalogued as FRB 180916..J0158+65, is the very first to produce a periodic or cyclical pattern of Fast Radio Bursts..The pattern begins with a noisy, four day window, during which the source emits random bursts of radio waves, followed by a 12 day period of silence.

The astronomers observed that this 16 day pattern of Fast Radio Bursts reoccurred consistently over 500 days of observations..
This FRB we are reporting now is like clockwork, says Kiyoshi Masui, assistant professor of physics in Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Kavli for Astrophysics and Space Research...

Its the most definitive pattern we have seen from one of these sources..And its a big clue we can use to start hunting down the physics of whats causing these bright flashes, which nobody seems to really understand...In a nutshell, those guys are suggesting that a form of intelligence could be behind those flashes!

It's probably just a rotating Pulsar in orbit about another object.
