Nobody thought the Titanic would sink and she sank on her first voyage. Now almost 100 years later it happened again with the Costa Concordia. Similar scenarios, including the selfish rich buying their way to safety.

I didn't know such a thing happened, but I'm not surprised. Ah.. rich people..!

Well I'm not surprised either. The right thing to do as we learn it who to be saved first is in most cases not being upheld.
Name it basic human survival instinct or survival of the fittest. Truth is in disasters like this one there will always be people who have the means to save themselves first over people they don't know and take advantage of it.
Just as there are people who do the opposite, but those are sadly rare cases.
