'Kingdom Of The Little People' Located High
In The Mountains Of Southern China
17 August, 2015
MessageToEagle.com - In the mountains of Southern China, there is an unusual village made up entirely of dwarfs where all residents must be less than four foot three inches.
They are very little people and so are their own police station and fire brigade. Found in 2009, this fascinating "Kingdom of the Little People" also known as "Dwarf Empire" is located near the city of Kunming in the middle of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, at an altitude of 1,900 metres (6,234 feet) above sea level.
"Kingdom of the Little People" was created by a Chinese entrepreneur named Chen Mingjing, who employs over 100 dwarfs to perform two daily and entertain tourists.
The dwarfs live in mushroom-like castles ruled by an emperor and empress and are housed in dormitories specially built for their size. They earn between between $160 and $400 a month.
Besides their wages, the dwarves are also offered counseling and extracurricular activities.
A stark contrast to their former lives, since most of them used to live in the streets.
It's most probably the only chance of these little people to start over in a safe, decent environment.
Many performers said they enjoyed being part of a community where everyone shares the same challenges, like the height of a sink.
'Before, when we were at home, we didn’t know anyone our size. When we hang out together with normal-size people, we can not really do the same things,' said Wu Zhihong, 20. 'So I really felt lonely sometimes.'
The owner has plans to expand the empire across China and employ up to 1000 dwarfs.
