Know of any novel treatment for depression?

Hi I suffer from recurring bouts of depression, it's been pretty bad this year because of the covid crisis and lost of friends. Not being able to tread the boards or be able to work fully also hasn't helped. I've tried numerous things over the years and all you get off the doctors is sertraline or some other antidepressant. Anyone know of any alternative perhaps even novel treatment for depression.

Try becomming healthy. Make it a habit to eat right and daily exercise. Ever heard of runners high? If you build up your health so you can experience runners high daily, you probably will never experience depression ever again.

When you said "tread the boards", did you mean you were an amateur actor or musician?

No treatments, only advice. (Everyone loves advice, right? :p)

#1 Prayer helps. :) Happiness doesn't come in pill-form. Don't be too hard on yourself, you're only human (as far as I know :alien:) Don't stress about things that are out of your control. Watch comedies. Sing out loud. Try to associate with positive people. Depression is like a cancer - it spreads. Focus on the good. And know that you're not alone! :)

I know how corny this all sounds, lol but I believe it to be true. And I've never been proven wrong...

Yes the loving kindness meditation or the teaching of unconditional love, that you probably know. I can say it works. You should love and respect and have empathy for everybody including yourself than your suffering diminishes. That is proven through studies.

5. Decreases PTSD
A study by Kearney et al (2013) found that a 12 week Loving Kindness Meditation course significantly reduced depression and PTSD symptoms among veterans diagnosed with PTSD.

It's hard, in the morning I walk to a nearby river and stand at the embankment looking lonely into the distance. In the afternoon I answer emails and send off business propositions. In the evening I peruse internet porn. Then I go to bed and the cycle begins again. That's my lockdown lifestyle.

My most recent discovery has been meditation. More of a re-discovery, actually. I used to meditate a long time ago, then stopped for some reason. My mind is always very busy and I usually don't take time to slow down and meditate.

I got back into it recently thanks to HeadSpace on Netflix. I'm baffled at how easy and effective it is and how much better it makes me feel. It can definitely help you fight depression. Worth a try.
