Millionaire spooked from mansion

A millionaire businessman from Nottinghamshire has said ghosts forced him to flee his 52-room mansion.
Clifton Hall was bought by Anwar Rashid for ?3.6m in 2007, but he has now handed it back to the bank.
Mr Rashid claimed that during the eight months the family lived there they were haunted by mysterious figures and found unexplained blood stains on bedclothes.
He called in paranormal investigators and said he stopped paying the mortgage as a last resort.
The 32-year-old, who is worth ?25m, made his money through a chain of nursing homes and a hotel in Dubai, and owns 26 properties.
He and his wife Nabila, 25, moved into Clifton Hall - which dates back to the Norman conquest - with their daughters, aged seven, five and three, and 18-month-old son.

Mr Rashid said: "I fell for its beauty but behind the facade it is haunted...
"The ghosts didn't want us to be there and we could not fight them because we couldn't see them."
He said the paranormal experiences began on the day they moved in, ranging from tapping on the wall and unexplained voices to ghostly presences taking the forms of their children.
Mr Rashid added: "When we found red blood spots on the baby's quilt, that was the day my wife said she'd had enough. We didn't even stay that night."
Paranormal experts were unable to solve the problem.
The family left in August 2007 and Mr Rashid, who now lives in Wollaton, stopped paying the mortgage in January. The Yorkshire Bank finally reclaimed the hall on Thursday.
He said: "When people used to tell me about ghosts, I would never believe them and would say 'whatever'.
"But I would have to tell any new owner that it was haunted having experienced it."

Cool, this ghost story is pretty new.
I wonder how the paranormal experts tried to explain the blood stains on bedclothes.

Re: Millionaire spooked from mansion

Did you notice in the article it says that the parents thought ghotsly presences were ttaking the forms of their children? That kind of makes me concerned about the kids because you never know what one of the parents might do to their kid if they think one of thems a ghost. In any case I thought that one statement was really weird.

Re: Millionaire spooked from mansion

I found that stuck out a lot to me too, the part about the ghosts taking on the appearance of their children. I thought ghosts couldn't do that.

Perhaps their children where astrally travelling in their sleep to get away from the ghosts at night?

Re: Millionaire spooked from mansion

The children were astrally travelling, and their parent saw their "minds" in the house. They happened to travel while their parents were there, in the same room.
I'm not sure this makes sense.

Re: Millionaire spooked from mansion

No, I mean not while with them. Like say when everyone was asleep at night, the parents saw their children as ghosts, but what if the children were astrally travelling in their sleep. I've heard of people astrally travelling and appearing to their friends in ghostlike form.

I just can't see a ghost appearing as something it was not already, so I'm trying to think of how they could see their children in a ghostlike state

Re: Millionaire spooked from mansion

If I found red blood spots and I thought it had to do with ghosts... Wouldn't you have them analyzed or something? I would imagine there would be a lab or two that would do it for free just out of curiosity.

It says in the article they called in paranormal investigators, I'd think they'd want to do that as well. It is weird they dont say much more about it though. Ive never heard anything about this other than the article though, and I just happened to see the headline while reading something unrelated. I wonder who the investigators were.

I can not read anywhere that the bloodstains were tested by any laboratory. This makes me very suspicious of the whole thing. There might be other motives beyond this episode.

Wow, reading that gave me chills. I hope I never have any experienes like that. Especially if I buy a house and it's haunted. I'm not rich and just not paying wouldn't be an option.
