I never thought I would see the day, but here we are. People are now asking me. How to leave earth to go live in the off world colonies. Rats are interested in leaving the sinking ship it seems. The bright light of tomorrow awaits you - the chance to begin again.
Most of you already know the pros.
A lot more technology, pure water and clean air. Also, no crime.
However, here are some of the cons.
English is rather rare. You will have to learn a new language and new ways.
Your current skills might not transfer well, so you will have to learn new ones.
A lot of things you enjoy might not exist where you are going. For example, no soccer.
Most people realize from right off that there are no bars or casinos. However, shopping malls are something you may miss.
Advanced societies typically do not slaughter their fellow creatures and you might not like going vegan. Also, owning a pet is seen the same way as we see owning a person. Their rules might not make a lot of sense. Living in a society of telepaths means there are no secrets and no privacy. All said, most people would be willing to make the jump.
