Tesla the man and Tesla the man we all came to love

A modern distant relative of Tesla wrote me and here is what he had to say about Tesla

Nikola Tesla was born in 1856 on July 10th, at exactly midnight. He has near 1200 patents. George Westinghouse, only paid Tesla a portion of the patent money he owed Tesla because, he and his Westinghouse Co. was almost bankrupt at one point. He asked Tesla to forgive the rest of the debt to keep The Westinghouse Co. going. Tesla for his good friend George Westinghouse - forgave the debt and therefore never got all the money he was due. This is a testament to Tesla's generosity and his total disregard for money, even to his own financial well being. Tesla was not a good business man. Tesla had an uncle who lived to be 140 years old. Tesla could recall every page he ever read from memory - exactly as written. Tesla intentionally sabotaged the Philadelphia experiment when he found out the Navy was going to put men on the ship without further testing. 99%25 of all the things Tesla said he could do that everyone thought were boastful and crazy were absolutely true and most of them are just barely beginning to be understood. He thought Einstein and his Theory of Relativity was wrong - and it is. Einstein based his theory on the speed of Light. But that is only the speed of light from our perspective on earth. Einstein forgot to tell the rest of the Universe that light could only go 186,000 miles per second. In the rest of our Galaxy and in the Universe Light has a much higher speed limit. The speed of Light was measured in 1887 by two guys with a light and two mirrors. No one has re measured it since. They were off a bit. An old saying goes. "Those who say something can't be done - should stop bothering those who are doing it!

The sky is NOT the limit.

I found this information on the net today.

Tesla's Electric Automobile -

In 1931, under the financing of Pierce-Arrow and George Westinghouse, a 1931 Pierce-Arrow was selected to be tested at the factory grounds in Buffalo, N.Y. The standard internal combustion engine was removed and an 80-H.P. 1800 r.p.m electric motor installed to the clutch and transmission. The A.C. motor measured 40 inches long and 30 inches in diameter and the power leads were left standing in the air - no external power source!

At the appointed time, Nikola Tesla arrived from New York City and inspected the Pierce-Arrow automobile. He then went to a local radio store and purchased a handful of tubes (12), wires and assorted resistors. A box measuring 24 inches long, 12 inches wide and 6 inches high was assembled housing the circuit. The box was placed on the front seat and had its wires connected to the air-cooled, brush-less motor. Two rods 1/4" in diameter stuck out of the box about 3" in length.

Mr. Tesla got into the driver's seat, pushed the two rods in and stated, "We now have power". He put the car into gear and it moved forward! This vehicle, powered by an A.C. motor, was driven to speeds of 90 m.p.h. and performed better than any internal combustion engine of its day! One week was spent testing the vehicle. Several newspapers in Buffalo reported this test. When asked where the power came from, Tesla replied, "From the ethers all around us". Several people suggested that Tesla was mad and somehow in league with sinister forces of the universe. He became incensed, removed his mysterious box from the vehicle and returned to his laboratory in New York City. His secret died with him!

It is speculated that Nikola Tesla was able to somehow harness the earth's magnetic field that encompasses our planet. And, he somehow was able to draw tremendous amounts of power by cutting these lines of force or causing them to be multiplied together. The exact nature of his device remains a mystery but it did actually function by powering the 80 h.p. A.C. motor in the Pierce-Arrow at speeds up to 90 m.p.h. and no recharging was ever necessary!

Tesla was faster than a locomotive.
Tesla could bend steel with his bare hands.
Tesla could leap tall buildings with a single bound.
When Tesla throws his mighty shield, all those who chose to oppose his sheild must yeild.
Tesla's middle name was Dolomite!
Whenever Tesla went out, he did so with:
A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty "Hi Ho Silver!!!!"
Your ass is grass and Tesla's the lawnmower.
Et cetera.
Pure ignorant claptrap.
The speed of Light was measured in 1887 by two guys with a light and two mirrors. No one has re measured it since. They were off a bit.
More pure ignorance.

Still, I suppose that just because somebody claims to be related to Tesla (who was quite mad when he died, rest assured,) that certainly doesn't mean that intelligence would necessarily be expected to dwell within them. Eveybody has an equal opportunity to be an ignorant buffoon. It's only fair.

Re: Tesla the man and Tesla the man we all came to love

The electric car sounds awesome, especially the "power from the ethers" part, but I wonder how we must deal with all these patents and claims. I agree Tesla was a genius, but after all these years, some stories about him might have turned into legends, and then are somehow exagerated and over the top ?

I would love being an inventor like mr tesla, and be a part of the world's history. He surely is the most known inventor of all time.

Someday, Tesla will be shown the respect that he deserves. Which will put him on a level that far exceeds Einstein, Edison, and others, those of us posting here, may not live to an age in this life to see that day unfortunately. Opmmur, no need to speak about Tesla's generosity and disregard for money, most people can't comprehend what that is. It makes no sense to them.

Some of us know the true value this man brought to this planet and to people. Many will never realize it, and don't wish to. Tesla was taken advantage of by Edison, Westinghouse, and JP Morgan, and others, but likely he didn't care much at the time of these occurences, because likely he believed in his heart that his discoveries would help the people. Probably one of the most incredible processors of information to grace this planet, maybe the most. Yeah, he was eccentric, and weird to people, people who's level of perception is far beyond what others can fathom and see of course will be misunderstood.

Thanks for posting about Tesla, opmmur. Can you share some of your favorite links for what you consider the best Tesla information?

He might not like the camera at all, beware of not killing the guy by accident, you'd fuck up our timeline.
