Seasonal?

Thank you !!!

Composer – Ciprian Porumbescu (who also wrote the TRUE Romanian anthem)
Carol – “Each And Every Year”
Singer – Paula Seling

Each and every year I come to your window
At Christmas time.
It is tremendous frost, the journey is hard, but
This is an old custom.
Today, in choir with our ancestors, I sing
The soft and gentle carol …
Even in their times he was still old,
Our good Santa Claus …
Even in their times he was still old,
Our good Santa Claus.

Right now you have joy and happiness
In your warm home,
But there are still many huts without a fire …
And tomorrow is Christmas.
Now I’ll go on my way, you stay safe and
Warm for Christmas …
But when you’re happy and joyful, Romanian,
Never forget - be good to others …
But when you’re happy and joyful, Romanian,
Never forget - be good to others.

The MADRIGAL national choir
“Santa Claus” (Romanian) and “Jingle Bells” (English)

Santa Claus with soft white hair
Has come from the deep snowdrifts,
To bring lots of presents
For little girls and boys.
Santa Claus … Santa Claus …

From our elderly we know
That every year, without exception,
Wanderer Santa Claus is coming,
He never missed – not even once.
Santa Claus … Santa Claus …

Today, I was gifted a bottle of “PALINCA”, that is the stuff I mentioned about here:
So … guys … if it does not make too much sense what I’m saying (writing) this evening, just put the blame on that, please … (I will for sure).

Somebody sent me a bottle of this, so I drank some of it. It is kind of murky tasting, but okay.

Something I found out recently, from a friend who is a connoisseur in this area – whisky originates from Scotland and has indeed a rough taste – whiskey originates from Ireland and it tastes smoother. Whether one or the other, the quality shows up at more than 42% alcohol concentration (the one you tasted seems to have 40%, according to the label). Same goes for “PALINCA” – lowest is the one with round 45% and really good is the one with 65% which is best to be kept for at least six months after distillation in a mulberry tree barrel in order to keep the plum aroma, the yellowish color and the high alcohol concentration. For the “PALINCA” it is also important to have a proper fermentation time – not to distillate it too early or too late.

Old scotch has a darker, meaner taste. Like something a supervillain would drink.

It is interesting what you wrote, because I was just preparing to post something that coincidentally makes me picture who would drink that Old Scotch you mentioned – and it matches the protagonist of the clip I was about to post.
It is a recent Romanian rap/folk clip which I find EXCELLENT, almost at the same level as “Another Brick In The Wall”, more for the message within rather than the musical value … and I am not at all a fan of this genre – but it really got me, especially the apogee ending.
It is called “The Black Sheep In The Crowd”:

Adapted lyrics:

Hey Shepherd, flocks of sheep are leaving you,
The sheepfolds remain deserted like our villages,
They are all white, they are all blind, only one is lost …
The black sheep in the crowd who escaped to the woods

I have the courage to be who I am when I look at myself
Millions of reasons not to be like you
Born with two eyes, a brain and two hands
We eat the same bread, we give the same leftovers to the dogs
The whole flock is educated to be the same
The same pleasures, routines and coins in the wallet
Many mothers educate their daughters for tycoons
Few mothers want real fathers for their grandchildren
Millions of people find examples
In fabricated thugs, in furnaces and rags
Few sheep like us wear black clothes over naked bodies
And find shepherds in treasures of integral values
I didn't say I was a diamond, I am just a stone between rubies
When they all shine, you don't see them, but you can see me
And I will remain unpolished so you can see me better
That old fashioned "black sheep in the crowd".

Hey Shepherd, flocks of sheep are leaving you,
The sheepfolds remain deserted like our villages,
They are all white, they are all blind, only one is lost …
The black sheep in the crowd who escaped to the woods

I didn't say I was an example, a healer
Nor an icon in the urban jungle
But I learned from life and not from school
It's better to boil in yourself than along with everyone in the same pot
I better be myself rather than the whole crowd
I better be poor in money, but a banker in heart
You better point the finger at me for not having what you have
I better wait for the rain to wash my soul!
We are all humans, but not all of us are human
You weigh souls in hundreds of grams
The sheep have no questions, they go ahead
They forgot why they live, they forgot about life
God, I don't ask for anything, just let me cry
When it hurts the most what I gathered inside
Not to show anger but to show my longing for good
Let me be myself, let me be the “black sheep in the crowd”

Hey Shepherd, flocks of sheep are leaving you,
The sheepfolds remain deserted like our villages,
They are all white, they are all blind, only one is lost …
The black sheep in the crowd who escaped to the woods
