Vangelis is one of my favorite artists, I have many of his recordings.

IIRC, When asked if it were true that he doesn't read music he once replied that
"I am a channel through which music flows."

He actually paid outside helpers the transcribe his music for him.

Vangelis once tried out as keyboardist for the band YES when Rick Wakeman departed in 1974.
He lost the gig when he remarked to Yes Guitarist Steve Howe that
"The guitar is an inferior instrument..."

It is also said that Vangelis didn't want to be in a band like Yes anyway
he would have to totally re-interpret all of the keyboard parts His way..
because he didn't read music.

So...2 of my music Icons lost in just a month.

Yes drummer Alan White passed away just yesterday.
He was 72.
