Discovered and kept secret in the year 2000, the book contains the Gospel of Barnabas – a disciple of Christ – which shows that Jesus was not crucified, nor was he the son of God, but a Prophet. The book also calls Apostle Paul “The Impostor”. The book also claims that Jesus ascended to heaven alive, and that Judas Iscariot was crucified in his place.

A report by The National Turk says that the Bible was seized from a gang of smugglers in a Mediterranean-area operation. The report states the gang was charged with smuggling antiquities, illegal excavations, and the possession of explosives. The books itself is valued as high as 40 Million Turkish Liras (approx. 28 mil. Dollars). Man, where is the Thieves Guild, when you need them?
Authenticity

According to reports, experts and religious authorities in Tehram insist that the book is original. The book itself is written with gold lettering, onto loosely-tied leather in Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ.

The text maintains a vision similar to Islam, contradicting the New Testament’s teachings of Christianity. Jesus also foresees the coming of the Prophet Muhammad, who would found Islam 700 years later.

It is believed that, during the Council of Nicea, the Catholic Church hand-picked the gospels that form the Bible as we know it today; omitting the Gospel of Barnabas (among many others) in favor of the four canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Many biblical texts have begun to surface over time, including those of the Dead Sea and Gnostic Gospels; but this book especially, seems to worry the Vatican.

I'd like to know how exactly the author of the book 1500 years ago wrote in gold ink. Or maybe it was branded somehow?

Why would a god send Jesus to only predict the coming of a pedophile prophet? And why would that god tell everyone to kill each other? Has anyone even read the Koran and the filth it contains? I doubt the validity of that book simply because of what it apparently contains, and if somebody wants to fake evidence and launch it, they are able to do it because Turkey is a country that prosocutes Christian, hence a Muslim country. Taquia is the doctrine of lying, and since Turkey backs this, why not divide and conquer they're probably thinking while trying to make their Caliphate.

Also, Muslims tried to claim that they were first to Australia, through the use of a planted coin a few years back and was supposedly "Genuine". Didn't go very far, as it was a lie.

About their doctrine of Lying:
Taqiyya (lying, deceiving, illusion) Islam's most important ideological wartool - Why we never can rely on muslims

"In February 2012, it was confirmed by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism that a 52-page biblical manuscript in Syriac had been deposited in the Ethnography Museum of Ankara.[63] Newspaper reports in Turkey claimed that the manuscript had been found in Cyprus in 2000, in an operation conducted by police against smugglers, and had been kept in a police repository since then;[64] and further speculated that the text of the manuscript could be that of the Gospel of Barnabas. No subsequent confirmation has been made, either as to the contents of the Ankara manuscript, or as to any findings of scientific tests for its age and authenticity.[63] In March 2012 Dr Assad Sauma, an expert in medieval Syriac texts, reported that the manuscript deposited in the Ethonography Museum could be identified with one for which he had formerly undertaken a partial analysis. He stated that the portions of text that he had examined had consisted of random gospel verses and quotations; and also that he had been unable to find any correspondence between them and the text of the Gospel of Barnabas."

'The earliest document mentioning a Barnabas gospel which is generally agreed to correspond with the one found in the two known manuscripts is reported to be contained in Morisco manuscript BNM MS 9653 in Madrid, written about 1634 by Ibrahim al-Taybili in Tunisia.[5] While describing how the Bible predicts Muhammad, he speaks of the "Gospel of Saint Barnabas where one can find the light" ("y así mismo en Evangelio de San Bernabé, donde se hallará la luz"). The first published account of the Gospel was in 1717, when a brief reference to the Spanish text is found in De religione Mohamedica by Adriaan Reland;[6] and then in 1718, a much more detailed description of the Italian text by the Irish deist John Toland."

"In 1985, it was briefly claimed that an early Syriac copy of this gospel had been found near Hakkâri in eastern Turkey.[61] However, it has since been demonstrated that this manuscript actually contains the canonical Bible.[62]

I think it is far fetched to say the Vatican is in awe.

Cosmo, redacted by protestants, but not Catholics or the Orthodox who affirmed those books at the Council of Trent in response to Luther's claim that the books were edifying but not canon. Since then, protestant groups have gone so far as trying to prevent the reprinting of those books. It might be noted that most hardcore creationist are protestants and both the Catholics and the Orthodox.

We Jehovah's Witnesses have known for centuries that there was no Crucifixion on a cross. Crosses are pagan, so why would Jesus aka Archangel Michael be on one?

It worries the Vatican because it doesn't fit their carefully constructed narrative.

The Bible is historically inaccurate [2], factually incorrect, inconsistent [2] and contradictory. It was artificially constructed by a group of men in antiquity and is poorly translated, heavily altered and selectively interpreted. Entire sections of the text have been redacted over time.
(via Why there is no god)
There's also the fact that on the frontispiece is inscribed:
"this book is written by monks of the high monastery in Nineveh in the 1500th year of our Lord."

A thousand years after Muhammad, somebody decided to do some revising, it appears.

The book itself is not 1500 years old. Could be that the text is, and this is a copy (like every book in the Bible - no originals survive) but I doubt it.

None of us were there, so all we have to work with are writings by persons unknown. I have read, back in the 70's, of this idea that Christ himself was not crucified to die on the cross. This was from a source I have great respect for. The Gospel of Barnabas joins the group of other "lost books of the Bible" that were not included in the official copy. As with all of our beliefs, it is our choice to which things we accept as true or not. Right now I just find this an interesting addition to the possibilities.

Question: Why are there no books of the Bible written by Christ?

From The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, Seth 1978

The man we call Jesus Christ was actually composed of three individuals who were the physical manifestations of the same nonphysical entity: John the Baptist, St. Paul, and a man historically
known as Christ. None of these were crucified. Their roles became blended and distorted in history.

Again, Christ was not crucified. The historical Christ, as he is thought of, was a man illuminated by psychic realities, touched with the infinite realization that any one given individual was, by virtue of his or her existence, a contact between All That Is and mankind.

Christ saw that in each person divinity and humanity met and that man survived death by virtue of his existence within the divine. Without exception, all of the horrors connected with Christianity's name came from following the letter rather than the spirit of the law, or by insistence upon literal interpretations while the spiritual, imaginative concepts beneath were ignored.

The Bible is a collection of writings done years after the events described therein. As we all know, stories change with the number of times they are told. As with myths and urban legends, religious stories can take on a life of their own believed to be true in the absence of any concrete evidence. The Crucifixion drama does serve a purpose in conveying the reality of "life after death" in a form that those of the time could accept. Our present day beliefs on this part of the story, whether pro or con, are based upon our own set of beliefs in many other areas. Unfortunately, all the evidence is allegorical and our final decision must be a faith based one.

What does this mean: "nor was he the son of God, but a Prophet"

I think, we all are sons and daughters of God...because she is at the top managing this Universe...right? Please tell us the distinctions...thanks...

I have friends who can talk to Jesus, Mother Theresa etc...and he did what his purpose was....so, just wondering...
