I always thought they look like the kind of being that doesn't need to rest or sleep. Maybe if he needs to, the grey puts himself into stasis or something.

You are close my friend. What is known is that....they do not sleep, but in fact, they experience something similar to human sleep but instead there is a type of...'slowing down of their conscious focus' and in this state of leisure or rest, they experience a type of dreaming but not at the same level that humans experience.
