FLYING OINTMENT

Long held as a point of conviction as a "witch" or "wizard", was the ability to fly, with or without a broom. The individuals questioned or tortured, depending if it was done by church or state and at what period of time, say the 1300s as opposed to the 1500s, being accused was bad enough, firmly believing that one could and did so regularly, was a "burning offense", either Catholic or Protestant factions agreeded on the same punishment. I have come across some recipes that while no promise is made to the use and the abulity to fly, I'd be interested if anyone tried to make the mixture up and the results. Using the mixture is not suggested as some have some rather potent "drugs" in them and may effect accurate perception of reality.

"Traditional English Flying ointment", from the Gardnerian Book of Shadows is as follows:
Lard: 100 gram.
Hashish(first quality): 5 grams.
Hempflower: a handful
Powdered Hellbore Root: pinch
Ground Sunflower seed: a pinch

The next two contain flowering plants, that when used in excess can cause death. These will not be cited except they contain "opium, henbane, belladonna, hemlock, wolf fat, baby's fat, deadly nightshade, and others.
