I believe he is yes, Haunted heartland is a series of books based around the united states and its various hauntings.

Is this a legend or has it been proven?

I believe it is only a legend, alot of these books go by legends and not actual hauntings.

Ok. Well even so legends are interesting sometimes kind of takes you away from reality lol
