If you privatize something where customers don't even see the quality, what is the financial incentive to install new water pipes at a loss? Game theory just goes against good will and safety.

I'm glad I have a well. And yes, I'm aware of the phosphate mines, but I'm over 2 miles away and we have 4 different filters on our drinking water because we don't like to taste minerals. Only problem is, it gets contaminated during hurricane flooding and then have to use chemicals to bleach it out. Guess I can't win!

But yes, I agree, we're a major civilized country with some of the worse water! In Holland, their drinking water is pure and filtered already. They don't put chlorine in it and can fill a fish bowl with out using chlorine drops.
