@PaulaJedi: I understand that the different people contributing have different feelings and focus towards different goals, but even as a collective of random people, they still have to kind of agree on a direction. I mean without that there might be two groups working against each other. And this is the part(the information transparency) that I disagree with mostly. And once again, even if its not the whole thing they work towards, you can't just say... well we got goal #1 accomplished, but #2 we can only half accomplish so we'll settle for that. Otherwise it wouldn't be a goal worth working towards in the first place.

Making compromises is why this country is in the shape it is today. I did a big research paper one time on the KKK and it's effects on America. Let me share this because it's a BIG example of compromise. The KKK is not only a racist group, they are also against anyone that isn't Protestant. Now certain sects have said they don't care about racism and so they allow black people to join. Now if I'm a black man, why the hell would I want to join them? So when I think about compromise or talk about compromise, those images of the black men in KKK outfits always comes to my mind. And I never want to be one of them.
That is where I'm coming from, from all of this. I will never be the black man in the white hood. I would rather give up my first and second amendments than let pedofiles have free access to child porn. And while we're on the subject, I would rather live in the America we have now, than in China or any other country of the world.

Once again, its very simple. The Devil I know, is much better than the one we don't know.

AHhhhh... no no no.. please let me explain that. I ran off on a tangent and missed that point. You will inevitably read many stories about government coverups and silencing its people from reading those.. its an easy explanation.

Here's how things work. Government employees, contractors and military are generally stupid when it comes to things like this and will be spreading lies. When this thing first popped with wikileaks, nobody knew much about it. it was this new website that was claiming to reveal truths. Nobody knew at first, how they got the information. Nobody suspected an insider. It was suspected to be maybe a virus or something inside someones computer. Things went on lockdown while the computer guys looked through things. So that message to not view that site came down cause we werent sure at first if the website might be giving out trojans or something that was stealing info off of our networks. And a lot of people only use their government computer to surf the internet. Most of my colleagues actually didn't even own a computer. Their only computer was the one at work. So don't mistake me or anyone else saying they were told that meaning it was a gag order. Did people eventually go there? yes. Did they lose their jobs? No. Anyone claiming this is a liar. There are only a few kinds of websites that you can go to on a gov't computer that will get you fired. Porn, P2P, and thats about it unless they find that you purposefully put viruses on their computers.

So in short, the message was that if you want to view it, do it on your personal laptop. Anyone claiming different is lying to get attention.

Without trying to start another topic, Sam, I believe that any sort of revolution in this country will leave us looking like Africa. Divided and corrupt with warlords in control of things. I know.. too much Revolution. :p

I don't agree, but time will tell. It may not be too far off in the future.

We might need to start a thread as to what would a revolution be like...post doomsday event. I have been watching the show Revolution and find some possible future realities there, which are frightening. I like your statement on a previous post..."Once again, its very simple. The Devil I know, is much better than the one we don't know." it is bad now but it will only get worse...IMHO

There is a book called, "Without Warning". it's a series of three books so far and I believe a fourth on the way. Anyone interested in that subject I suggest reading it cause it's the closest to what I believe would happen. Or just go to google and look for a 5 minute synopsis.

Now there is something I can agree on.

Fear of the unknown. Assuming the unknown is worse than the current reality is not a valid argument. We can create the ideal situation but we would have to first discuss it. Taking into account the concerns and potential issues of the people.

So your concerns are valid but that doesn't mean that an end point cannot be reached to accommodate your views and mine. Accepting a broken and corrupt government structure is self defeating. You deserve better and so do the rest of us. With great risk can come great reward. Inaction is acceptance to the status quo and leads to a slippery slope of tyranny and manipulation.

Cheers

I'm just going to stop posting because for some reason every time I type something, I have to retype it over and over because people are reading things into what I'm typing that isn't there.

I have this person in my life that I cannot send one email with a list of things to do because they only read the first one or two and then they ignore the rest of the email. That's kind of how I feel right now.
