Let's all share poetry!

I'll start. Here is one about taking chances:

Cement Shoes by PaulaJedi

When wearing the cement shoes of life,
you have two choices you can make.
One choice is to remain at the surface
with the weight bearing down on you,
so heavy as you try to walk along.
The other choice is to jump into the
water, knowing that briefly you'll sink,
but once you reach the bottom, there's
no turning back....

but what's at the bottom??
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
sinking
.
.
.
.
could it be the most beautiful coral reef you've ever seen?
.
.
.
.

Sidenote: The band Trivium ended up making a video of this exact same concept. It makes me wonder if they saw it on Myspace. Hmph. lol

Wrote this a long time ago:

Midnight Fantasy by PaulaJedi

Sensual pleasure, upon a grave
The churchbell bongs, the midnight craze
that sets the scene for strangest love
That awakens every rotting bone.
A fog that hides the lovers face
adds to the mystery of this place
which holds the dead, the painful dread
of being caught, but oh please hush
and kiss me, fool, before they wake
and see us here, our souls to take.
Our heat is magic, a stranger love
that arises from the scent of death
within the fog that lingers on
and lifts us higher until it's gone.
The moonlight fades, the daylight breathes
The dead are sleeping, rest in peace.
There's nothing left but you and I.
The strangest love, with death beneath!

Here is one my sonnets, written Shakespeare style:

Sonnet I

My dear you are so far but I do find
Among this wretched world I lay unrest'd
And nothing in my heart can ease my mind
As sleeplessly these nights I do detest.
Inside my head pictures of you do bleed.
The heart within my chest pounds deathly on.
It's you inside my arms that I do need
Before my hopes burn ashes in the sun.
You are my closest love, you are my fire.
Your presence is what I truly desire.

How bout a Haiku -

sweet drops drip
from the knife

OK. Here are my other sonnets.

Sonnet II

I often contemplate the words I've thought
Thereafter finding wasted time was spent
dreaming of a world once truly sought
and friends abound replaced the earthly scent.
But now the realization stings my heart
Delusions have then occupied my mind
Perhaps I failed to notice from the start
the dream must be impossible to find.
For in my heart I dreamed of such a place.
But in my mind the truth was not a trace.

Sonnet III

Today I reached the star that never shines
Within it's center cold and shiver grows
And blackness forms a circle 'round my eyes
Where deep within my heart it never slows.
I ponder on the star on which I stay
Bewildered by the fact that I do bleed
As often as an open wound astray
And pain just seems to be my only creed
Savoring the dark taste in my heart.
I feel the scent of it's once sour start.

Sonnet IV

Watching candles burn from end to end
I wait and feel uncertainty abound
While waiting for the urgency to mend
I sit and utter once or twice a sound
A tear dost fall and roll upon my cheek
As thunder groans it's ever sorrowed song
Wishing that these thoughts of mine were weak
and hoping that my soul could once be wrong.
Deciding what is true and what is real
Seems to alter how I truly feel.

I really wish this forum allowed the last 2 lines to be indented like they are supposed to be. That's how Shakespeare did it.

ONE OF SHAKESPEARE'S SONNETS!!! I didn't write this. I LOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE this one!!! In fact I loooooove his sonnets.
BTW, Shakespeare may be female. I'll post another thread about that!!!!

Sonnet 24 by Shakespeare.

Mine eye hath played the painter and hath steeled,
Thy beauty's form in table of my heart;
My body is the frame wherein 'tis held,
And perspective that is best painter's art.
For through the painter must you see his skill,
To find where your true image pictured lies,
Which in my bosom's shop is hanging still,
That hath his windows glazed with thine eyes.
Now see what good turns eyes for eyes have done:
Mine eyes have drawn thy shape, and thine for me
Are windows to my breast, where-through the sun
Delights to peep, to gaze therein on thee;
Yet eyes this cunning want to grace their art,
They draw but what they see, know not the heart.

Those last 2 lines are amazing.

Those are fantastic.

I grew up to going to the Shakespeare festival in Ashland Oregon every summer. It has a fantastic outdoor Elizabethan Theater. Its magical there. I actually ended up going to Southern Oregon State College in Ashland. If you ever go there make sure to go to the park and drink the Lithia water~

Another one I wrote 20 years ago:

ROAD PIZZA

Heart splattered like Road Pizza
Add the cheese
Sit down and enjoy a nutritious meal.
Bon Appetit!
