Yeah, pretty much everyone expects the Republicans to have strong feelings about soon outgoing President Barack Obama appointing a new Supreme Court Justice to replace Scalia, recently found dead. But there might be some surprise among his supporters to find that his own veep Joe Biden actually argued for the same thing many years ago, pressuring President Bush to not do the same.
Is this a smoking gun? Not really. The Republicans are just as hypocritical in their argument as Obama is; the Democrats actually grudgingly agreed to confirm a late appointment of Ronald Reagan. The real threat is if Republicans get what they wish for. Imagine if President Obama did punt the nomination to the next guy or gal in the White House; he suddenly would be eligible to be the Justice himself.
