Hi all
My apologies if this has been covered before, but the recent fake pictures supplied by Paul Wood got me thinking.
What would you consider to be acceptable and reasonable proof?
Pictures can be faked. Period. So even if any authentic pictures from the future are presented here, there will always be doubt. Although maybe more difficult to manipulate, the same applies to video and audio.
Predictions about future events years from now are impossible to verify. Predictions regarding the more immediate future are more interesting, but not without problems. Many psychics regularly predict future events, many of which comes true. That doesn't make them time travelers. Other events, like the Chinese space program or MCD, could have been reasonably foreseen.
Asking for pictures or clippings from news headlines a week from now may be completely pointless. If you were a time traveler, and every jump is expensive, may cause changes in worldlines, or may compromise your mission, would you be willing to go on a little joyride to take some pics that may or may not convince a handful of people?
If you were to travel back in time, say 25 years, how would you attempt to provide proof. Would you even try? Do you think taking your new laptop to 1970 would convince the majority of people? Would taking your 3G cellphone back to an era without answering machines make you more credible or less?
So what kind of proof should we reasonably expect from time travelers on this forum? Any suggestions?
