Yeah, that's because we've got a lot of bums from both the Democratic and Republican parties in our government now. Hopefully that will change if Trump is the next U.S. President.

According to my plans to change history, Ronald Reagan will be provided with strong Republican majorities in both the Senate and House of Representatives upon his inauguration in 1981, as a result of the (revised) elections of 1980.

Believe it or not, throughout the Reagan years, the House of Reps was predominantly Democratic, so that hindered Reagan's capabilities of how to get what he wanted done as President.

But now that history is going to be changed, Reagan is going to be accompanied by strong Republican majorities in both houses of Congress during his 8 years as President, as well as the first two years of George H.W. Bush. (For balance, Democrats will win control of Congress in the 1990 mid-term election and maintain it for four years until the 1994 mid-term election, with Newt Gingrich and all.)

Back to topic, you time travelers will be able to add the 1980s as best times to visit, along with the 50s and 20s, as a result of the feats accomplished by President Reagan with a heavily Republican Congress. I'm sure we'd be a lot better off today, anyway.

Life always seemed better after two world wars 1914 to 1918...1939 to 1945, and the decade that followed them :)
Both my parents were around in the 1920s and 1950s and hoped there would never be a world war three..
As technology rapidly moved forward and the Russians and Americans were locked in a cold war starting in 1947, there was always a fear of nuclear war occurring, however there was always a sense of "hope", as my parents put it and the UK plus many other countries were in the process of re-building their countries after the devastation of world war two...In the late 1950s i was more interested in the modern day music and technology of the time....If you want to know what was happening back in the 1920s, im sure my mate Dawg will tell us all about that lol ::LOL:::ROFLMAO:...This song was my introduction to "Tulsa :D"

@TimeFlipper - Yeah, I can see the point you're making about prosperity and hope after two world wars. You also have to remember too, however, that America was also prosperous (non-stop) for over a century after the American Revolution ended, until socialism and communism first infiltrated the U.S. And the Democratic Party since LBJ is not the same as it was during the 1920s and 50s.

Yes, there were indeed a lot of socialists and communists in that party during the 20s and 50s, but not as many as there are post-LBJ up to today. Remember that we did have JFK, a very conservative Democrat, and it's a shame he was assassinated.

Yes Classical, the cold war has created many communists and socialists within America upto today, lets just hope our western ideas have infiltrated Russians sufficiently to turn them a little ;):D
