Alien invasion

I believe there are both benevolent and aggressive alien species. More than likely there is an intergalactic governmental body that makes rules on "young" planets such as ourselves. It is likely that there are rules against contact or at least limits to contact. So given the political environment there could be an upheaval or event that precipitates into the breaking of such laws and invasion/taking of our planet.

My guess is the current alien leaders are protecting us from such an event. But things could change....
