Today, they have the chance to live a normal life without concerns of being attacked and thrown in prison for instance. Just like heterosexual individuals, they are free like every person should be.

I don't think there are more of them today. They're just no longer hiding.

Yes I would agree with this. I think with attitudes in society, laws against discrimination of homosexuals, gay marriage equality, etc its easier for us to identify our sexualities more openly. They continue to pop out, but I think the majority of us, are out in the open because of what I said above, times have changed.
