Either the US spies are lying, or the Russian intelligence folks are lying.

Or how about both?

Governments have been known to lie and we all know that figures can lie as well as liars can figure...

I would like to go back to the root cause of this problem when there was an election and then there was a civil war where the elected officials were replaced by the rebels.

That action was either illegal in the world of politics, or it was accepted by the people of the world as lawful.

To the Western countries the change of power was legal and to the Eastern powers it was NOT!

If push comes to shove it could bring us in to a proxy war with East and West exchanging nukes.

Also, the Ukraine may opt to join NATO, and that would force Russia to invade the Ukraine for sure.

If the Western countries unite as one and help the Ukraine fight Russia there will be a world war 3!

Think of it this way. Russia annexed Crimea when the Ukraine civil war started getting serious, because they have a naval base at Sevastopol. They don't seem to take military actions lightly, but they will act quickly when their military assets are threatened.

For years, Russia accused NATO of trying to expand eastward and surround Russia, but NATO denied it. This year, the US and NATO have stopped denying it.
