Marijuana pipe found in 4-year-old's Burger King Kid's Meal

Talk about a happy meal. A Michigan family was surprised to find a marijuana pipe, rather than the traditional toy, inside their 4-year-old’s Burger King Kid’s Meal.

The family was in Dundee, Mich., visiting a water park when the boy’s grandfather stopped by a local Burger King to pick up food for the youngster, according to NBC affiliate NBC25. The family discovered the pipe before the boy got to it and contacted police immediately.

Police report that a 23-year-old employee put the pipe in the box in order to hide it while he worked. He had no intention of giving it away.

The employee has been charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Two of the man’s friends have also been charged with drug possession. They were spotted in their car outside the Burger King trying to warn their friend of the police’s involvement.

Gunman near White House 'was only going to fire a couple of shots'

A man who displayed a loaded weapon at a U.S. Secret Service police booth outside the White House told officers, “I was only going to fire a couple of shots if no one confronted me,” according to court documents.

Officers arrested Christopher Wade Briggs in the 700 block of Jackson Place NW Tuesday afternoon.

An officer in the police booth saw Briggs, who was not wearing a shirt, take a holstered semi-automatic .45-caliber handgun from a backpack and attach it to his belt, according to court documents. The officer called for backup to assist with the arrest.

The gun was loaded with 13 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, according to court documents. A search of Briggs’s backpack found two more magazines filled with 13 rounds and 171 more rounds of .45-caliber, hollow-point ammunition. He also had two hunting knives with serrated edges -- one with a 7-inch blade and one with a 12-inch blade.

The officers did not find a license to carry or any gun permit in Briggs’s name, and Briggs did not say he had a license to carry or gun permit.

French mom, uncle face fines for 3-year-old's T-shirt reading 'Jihad' and 'I am a bomb'

Similar T-shirts, like this one sold by American Apparel, are widely available online. The slogan, which translates as "I am a bomb," is usually taken to be a slang expression of self-regard.

A French woman told a court that she simply wasn't thinking when she sent her 3-year-old son to kindergarten wearing a T-shirt reading "Jihad, born September 11" on the back and "I am a bomb" on the front, French media reported Thursday.

The woman, Boucha Bagour, 34, and her brother, Zeyad Bagour, 29, could be fined 1,000 and 3,000 euros ($1,300 and $3,900), respectively, when their trial on charges of "apologizing for terrorism" resumes next month, the newspaper Le Parisien reported. Both have pleaded not guilty.

At a hearing Wednesday near Avignon, Bagour, a single mother, said she dressed her son — who really is named Jihad and who she said really was born on Sept. 11 — "without thinking about it" last September. She was charged after teachers and the principal complained to authorities.

"I thought it might make people laugh," she said, according to Le Parisien.

Zeyad Bagour, the boy's uncle, who is also charged because he bought the T-shirt, said he, too, didn't think there was a problem. The French phrase "je suis une bombe" — literally, "I am a bomb" — is a slang expression of self-regard, and "to me, it means 'I am beautiful,'" he said, adding, that T-shirts with the slogan are widely available in Avignon's markets.

The T-shirts are also widely available for sale online. They're even sold by American Apparel.

The Bagours' lawyer put it more bluntly, telling the court, according to the newspaper, that if they truly meant to support terrorism, they picked a poor venue, noting that the class was filled with kindergartners "who cannot read."

In an interview with the newspaper La Provence in November, Boucha Bagour said that while she is Muslim, "there is no message to be conveyed by the T-shirt — no intent."

"'Bomb' is used in the sense of 'handsome,' nothing more," she said. "And my son was actually born on September 11."

"It's just a simple phrase on a T-shirt," she said. "It's nothing dangerous."

Man arrested with two handguns, defaced rifles at JFK airport: police

A 23-year-old man was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after two hand guns, two defaced rifles and several ammunition magazines were found in his possession, police said on Saturday.

Keenan Draughon of Clarksville, Tenn., was stopped at security check by Port Authority police officers and taken into custody at 8 a.m. local time on Saturday, Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo told NBC News.

Pentangelo said one of the rifles was loaded.

Draughon, who was bound for Charlotte, N.C., has been charged with six felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and will be arraigned within 24 hours, Pentangelo said.

(Newser) – Sympathy is likely to be in short supply for Richard Thomas as he waits to find out whether he caught HIV from the woman he raped. The British man was sentenced to five years for the crime yesterday and the court was told that he will find out whether he has the virus later this week, the BBC reports. Thomas let himself into the woman's house in the middle of the night and she awoke to find him raping her, the court heard. Thomas says he had been drinking and taking drugs, and doesn't remember the attack.

Thomas knew the victim and knew she had another illness but was unaware she had HIV, and the Daily Mail reports that he collapsed and asked to be taken to the hospital when police informed him that he could be infected. "It is his own fault," his own lawyer told the court. "If he had not committed this offense he would not have placed himself in this position."

A HIV-positive man forced his girlfriend to have unprotected sex with him after pouring gasoline over her, police say.

Glen Davis is accused of telling the unidentified woman 'You're gonna die one way or another' before the sexual assault.

He had accused her of cheating on him and also threatened to set her teenage son on fire.

Davis, 48, from Winter Haven, Florida, was arrested on Saturday after the alleged attack on Halloween.

He has been charged with criminal transmission of HIV, battery, false imprisonment, two counts of arson, two counts of aggravated battery and sexual assault.

Police said Davis threatened to set her alight after grabbing her neck and dousing her with gasoline.

All the doors were locked and he prohibited the use of cell phones, the woman told police.

She told investigators he also held scissors to her throat before forcing her to have unprotected sex.

The woman told police she begged him to use a condom but he refused.

Davis is also accused of pouring gasoline over the kitchen table and setting it alight.

His girlfriend told Bay News 9: 'I seen my life flash before my eyes right there.

'The house filled up with smoke. Fire and smoke and we couldn't get out.'

The police report states that she knew of her boyfriend's HIV status but the couple had always used protection.

He is currently being held at the Polk County Jail on a $70,000 bond.

Police in California have arrested a teenager for allegedly 'setting fire' to the 'kilt' - the national dress of Scotland - of a fellow passenger on a city bus.

Oakland Police officers took a 16-year-old boy into custody on Tuesday afternoon after the incident which they describe as a 'senseless act.'

The victim, who has also not been identified, was taken to the burn center at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco where he is in stable condition with second and third-degree burns.

Police spokeswoman, Officer Johnna Watson said the accused, who has not been named, is being questioned but no motive has been established.

'This is a horrific crime when a human being thinks it's OK to set another on fire,' said Officer Watson.

She added he could face possible charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident occurred when the victim, though to have been wearing a 'kilt' - the national dress of Scotland - was asleep in the rear of an Alameda-Contra Costa Transit bus in Oakland, shortly after 5 p.m on Monday.

His 'kilt-like piece of clothing' was set ablaze by another passenger according to transit spokesman Clarence Johnson.

The passenger woke up after noticing his clothing was on fire and tried to put it out himself.

Other passengers came to his aid to help put out the flames but Mr Johnson said he suffered severe burns his legs.

Once the bus driver realized what happened, he stopped the bus and called for assistance but the suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

The victim has not been named and it has not been confirmed if it was actually a kilt he was wearing.

Police are reviewing surveillance video on the bus, which they say had at least a dozen other passengers on board at6 the time.

"We have a lot of witnesses who saw what happened and provided information to the officers on the scene that will help us move this case forward," said Officer Watson.

• Hospital billed him for procedures they performed against his will and threatened to turn a collections agency on him
• No drugs were ever found

A New Mexico man stopped for rolling through a stop sign earlier this year was subjected to a nightmarish 14-hour anal cavity search after police became suspicious that he was hiding drugs.

David Eckert says he was subjected to three enemas, two rectal searches, two x-rays and even a colonoscopy - all in pursuit of non-existent narcotics.

After it was done, the hospital that performed all the procedures against his will even billed him - and threatened to hire a collections agency if he didn't pay, he alleges.

The invasive procedures were performed at the Gila Regional Medical Center

Now, he is suing the police officers who held him against his will and the doctors who performed the invasion procedures.

The hospital in question and police have refused to comment on the lawsuit.

KOB-TV reports that Mr Eckert was pulled over on January 2 as he was pulled out of the Walmart in Deming, New Mexico. Officers say he failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign.

They asked Mr Eckert to get out of his car. When he stood, an officer claims, he was clenching the cheeks of his buttocks - which the officer believed was a sign he was hiding drugs.


That single observation kicked off the horrific cavity searches that kept Mr Eckert in captivity for 14 hours.

'If the officers in Hidalgo County and the City of Deming are seeking warrants for anal cavity searches based on how they're standing and the warrant allows doctors at the Gila Hospital of Horrors to go in and do enemas and colonoscopies without consent, then anyone can be seized and that's why the public needs to know about this,' Mr Eckert's lawyer, civil rights attorney Shannon Kennedy, told the TV station.

After officers noticed Mr Eckert's posture, they called a drug dog, which indicated a small on narcotics on Mr Eckert's driver seat.

A search of the car revealed no drugs.

So, officers held him until a judge issued a warrant authorizing a body cavity search.

First officers took him to Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming, but doctors there said the procedures police were requesting were 'unethical' for them to perform, according to court documents.

Then, the officers him across county lines to Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. Kennedy argues in the lawsuit that transporting Mr Eckert to another county violated the terms of the search warrant and made the entire search illegal.

Doctors performed a colonoscopy, which involves inserting a camera up his anus and all the way into his large intestine. He had to be sedated for the procedure

Once at Gila Medical Center, according to the lawsuit, doctors put Mr Eckert through several hours of invasive, humiliating searches.

The lawsuit claims that Mr Eckert vocally objected to each search, but doctors performed the procedures anyway at the request of doctors.

At the hospital, doctors probed his rectum with their fingers. When they didn't find anything, he was given an X-ray.

When the X-ray came up negative, he was probed again.

Deming Police Chief Brandon Gigante said his officers always act within the bounds of the law

Then, he was given an enema and forced to defecate in front of the doctors and police officers and watch as they sifted through his stool.

Doctors then performed a second and third enema. None of the enemas discovered drugs.

He was then X-rayed for a second time.

After the final, X-ray he was sedated and given a colonoscopy, a complex medical procedure that involved the doctors inserting a camera into his anus, rectum, colon, and large intestines.

Finally, after 2am, when the colonoscopy came up negative, he was released without charges, according to the lawsuit.
