Bacteriophages used against bacterial infections in humans was a neat field of study until the prescription drug cartels shut it down. It was an easy way to cure people with MRSA type infections.

Vidiians could have been cured by the transporter bio-filter if it was programmed right. The writers of Voyager screwed up on a lot of things.
