When I had to dump my land line, I picked up a Nokia 105 4G as a temporary phone for $38 that became permanent... at least for now... It's about as brain dead as you can get. I don't use phones that much, so I don't need a lot of features. If you're going for a cheap bar phone, I'd recommend the next model up with bluetooth and a built in call recorder. The wired headset on mine sucks badly and has echo problems I can't get around making headsets useless.
I don't recommend china phones for obvious reasons.
I still have a 1G phone and a couple 2G phones in my parts box that still work. I really liked the Nokia bar phone with a fold out keyboard, but they don't make them anymore.
