3D Spectral Data Transmission

My idea is to use all the colors in light to transmit data in space. Also, using parallel transmission could be used to send large amounts of data in a single pulse. Light travels forever in space, does it not?

I haven't chosen what information to send, yet. I was thinking of sending messages through a black hole, somehow, to reach another dimension or place in time.
