I think they maintain it to stay in working order. I seen some oil leaks, and I was thinking about how they painted everything and in a few weeks, I bet they could unjam all the hinges. It was also weird to see the weapon area completely stocked. Maybe it was just show, but I dont know. Then, if you read the history on how the ship was saved.
