Blast From The Past--Top Of The UK Pops 25/1/1973--Glam Rock Band--Sweet.

They did dress a bit...Strange though.

A 1973 performance at the Palace Theatre and Grand Hall in Kilmarnock ended in Sweet being bottled off stage; the disorder was attributed by some (including Steve Priest) to Sweet's lipstick and eye-shadow look, and by others to the audience being unfamiliar with the concert set (the 1999 CD release Live at the Rainbow 1973 documents a live show from this period). The incident would be immortalised in the hit "The Ballroom Blitz" (September 1973).

Pleased to know you enjoyed that song and yes, they did look a bit weird to some people, but they epitomised the "Glam Rock Look" of the 70s...The "Glam" referred to the word Glamorous which was a term used only for females, and still is i believe :giggle:..

I recall a situation that happened to me in the early 1970s when a group of girls decided to come into the dressing room the band and me were in during our first break off stage :giggle:..

One of them sat on my knee and gave me a long lingering kiss, she was wearing bright red lipstick and i forgot all about it until we went back on stage for the second half and the people nearest the front of the stage started laughing at me about the bright red lipstick all over my mouth and cheeks :LOL:...You know what Windy, i can still taste that lipstick as iam writing this to you!..The hand that holds the pen writes history (y):D..
