(English) Dorino Dori fell ill at the thought of having to approach the mirror of the hermit again. The fear that once again the machine could produce one, two, ten, a hundred spirals and be overwhelmed by them, caused him an intestinal infarction. Those same spirals that some time ago wrapped up Captain Leale Martelli under the eyes of the deacon and the woodcutter to whom the spirals looked like snakes that wrapped the captain in their coils… the coils of the hermit, coils that still keep Leale Martelli a prisoner of time and space and at the service of the wishes of the hermit, a skilled forger of spirals.
