Easy way to tell ahoax

I have been up and down this board and found hoaxes easy to spot. I saw an episode of "Enterprise" the other day and heard some scientific jargon to explain time travel, and then saw it on this board when someone was explaining his. Can the time police get you for borrowing from a TV show? And do the commercials interrupt your time travel?

I think that the easiest way to spot a hoax is to ask for proof. A hoaxer cannot provide this and must resort to some elaborate explaination to rationalize why.
