It does sound like a Bigfoot, Keep a eye out for Dens and broken down tree's as i have heard that is a good sign of them, there are HUGES amounts of information on the net and Hundreds of Books.
I do Honistly wish i had more hands on experience with the matter and could help you get to the bottom of it, but sadly i am not a hunter so it really limits my knowledge.
