Has technology ruined spirit photography?

In the advent of the digital age has it become better or more difficult to capture spirit or ghost photos?

As with Photoshop and now a thing called ghost app it is easier to create hoaxes.

IMHO, film was the best because it was very difficult to make a hoax that the film negatives wouldn't betray.

What are your thoughts?

Has the advancement of technology made things better or
we're the old ways better?

A Brief History of Paranormal Photography

I believe the camera`s that contain films are the best for detecting ghostly images, the chemicals contained in the film emulsion are responsible for this...Digital camera`s do not process the same amount of imagery as do the analogue camera`s..digital=discrete information :)

Good topic. Digital photography creates and picks up many anomlies that people mistake for the paranormal. Example: orbs.
IMHO, if you don't see the orb with your own eyes, it's not a ghost. It's dust, moisture, insects, reflections, or lensing effects. Nothing more. When people show me orb photos, I always have to gently tell them not to be so excited. As much as I believe, I have to rule out other possibilities first, and orbs 99% of the time are not ghosts. Sorry! :)

To answer your question, SOME technology has made the study of the paranormal worse (cameras). Some technology, like recording equipment, has helped. I'm telling you, the better the equipment you have, the better the EVP you will pick up. I am always doubtful of those faint, airy, 1 second whispery ones that could be digital noise or air. I've hooked up a pre-amp and a condensor mic to a laptop during one investigation and got much better results.

So, technology can both help and hinder a paranormal investigation. Choose wisely.

I wish I still had my EVPs. These were actually quite incidental if not accidental as they were recorded somehow through an old tape driven answering machine.
Scared the cr*p out of my then room mate.
One was given away and the others erased.

Quite scary as his name was mentioned in a manner of extremes.

It appeared as a kind of low buzzing underneath another voice but when tape was slowed way down, the sound I thought was nothing more than machine noise, was another male voice saying my room mate's name.

I can understand how today's voice recorders are much more reliable than yester- years tape devices.

For the record,
I downloaded and tried some different 'Ghost Apps' just to see what's up with them.

They all had pretty much the same graphic(s) in ghosts
and are absolutely 'see-through' as far as being believable in any form.

Unless there are some that allow you to include your own home made graphics,
they seem as bogus and cheap as I thought.

IMO, they don't even make for a good hoax.

I've heard cassettes get great results, too. I've never tried them, though.... and old cameras would be much more reliable than today's digital ones.

I just wouldn't put much faith into recording EVP with a phone or a small digital recorder.

I can see Paula going onto Amazon or Ebay to get hold of an old Phillips cassette recorder...the Chrome Oxide (high position) cassette tapes are the best ones...thats if you can still get them :D

Meh. I've lost my passion for investigations. I've lost my passion for almost everything. All I do is work and clean and do laundry, remember?

I might buy one if one comes into our store, though.

Of course i remember Paula, but it might be possible to do a few investigations occasionally by not being on Paranormalis :)
