Haunted U-Haul

I'm doing some work in South Carolina and stopped to rent a U-Haul trailer to haul some stuff back to Nashville. The manager, at the rental office, noticed my two Paranormalis bumper stickers and started talking. He said he use to be a ghost hunter when he lived in Maine, everyone in the Myrtle Beach area appears to be originally from somewhere else, and the ghost story started. He told me he previously managed a U-Haul storage facility in Fayetteville, South Carolina, which happened to be built next to an old cemetery...and it was haunted. He said he had parts falling off the display rack constantly...showing me the secured trailer hitches that would just drop to the floor. He lived upstairs, above the office, with his roommate and they constantly heard noises, doors opened and closed mysteriously, and items were moved to different locations. I hope the ghosts hadn't followed him to his present place of employment as I have a 10 hour drive to make come Monday and don't need a ghost in the trailer, especially since I have two tunnels to drive thru in the mountains. lol

I was reminded of the 1983 movie Christine, which is a car that contains an evil entity and drives itself...i hope that dont take over when youre driving through them spooky tunnels Dawg :D

Considerin' the place was in SC, nothin' there amazes me anymore, being here in NC.A "haunted U-Haul" ranks right up there with "haunted portable "outhouses". The story is right much fun to read. Thanks for sharin".

@TimeFlipper Only one tunnel going back home, instead of the two I had driven thru, and hit it at 12:30AM...lite up bright as day so no ghost showed up.

@DEATH OMEN I think the U-Haul ghost relocated to the outhouse.

@Martian May be proof that the U-Haul ghost is real as it made your post, which I liked, disappear. I believe the ghost saw no humor in it. lol

Hi there! I'm the U-Haul manager that told you the story. I thought I would pop by the forum to say hello!

The facility is located on Camden Road in Fayetteville, NC and if you go to our website at www.storesmart.org you can see some pictures of the facility (which is HUGE). The small family cemetery is actually right next to our parking lot and it was always a little weird looking out the window while doing my dishes and seeing graves.

The first day I arrived at this facility I was standing by the front counter in the office and these two heavy u-haul hitches inexplicably just fell off the wall. It was pretty strange as these things weigh a good amount and you would almost have to push them off the wall because the hooks they are displayed on are curved upwards in the front. It was the only time in the 8 months I was there that this happened, which in itself is a little odd since if it was an issue with the hooks you would think it would happen all the time.

That same day after we closed and were out on the apartment steps smoking a cigarette we heard a loud woman's scream coming from somewhere in the facility. We got the golf cart out and searched the facility but nobody was there. It's definitely possible though that the scream came from the nearby shopping center which is what we ultimately chalked it up to.

As for the doors opening, one of the back managers office doors would come open so frequently I had to lock it to keep it shut. I would close it when we shut the store down for the day and in the morning when I came in it would be open. In addition to this the door to the back bedroom where I set up my video games would constantly come open when I was in there. I tried locking the door and it still opened. Both my roommate and myself witnessed this one night. The door opened up and we shut it thinking it was odd. We had already been talking about some of the weird things going on there and we decided to address whatever was doing it directly. I said out loud, "If something is here and is trying to get our attention please open the door". Sure enough it opened again.

Other than that I would frequently hear noises coming from the downstairs office at night, bangs and shuffling, and wouldn't find anyone down there when checking. The current manager has told me he has heard similar noises coming from downstairs as well.

I would also leave my bathroom light on at times and would see a shadow passing by the light under my door on numerous occasions which used to creep me the hell out.

I used to be a paranormal investigator back in the very early 2000's and witnessed some strange things but this was the first time I have experienced a possible residual haunting first hand and actually had to live with it. I wasn't necessarily scared but I was definitely startled at times.
