I guess it depends on your perspective doesn't it. Things need to get much worse before things get better so are you looking at the long term of the short term.
Humanity is starting to wake up to things, technologies are starting to evolve towards where they should be, systems are collapsing but slowly, look for the long term, things are getting better.
