Virus
Considering the current condition found on the third rock from the sun, I thought I'm might start with a subject that is of prime importance to our society and the future population of the earth. A virus is essentially the smallest unit of self replicating (life?) metabolically inert, a segment of self-replicating code planted illegally inserted in a living cell (think about this , and the implication you see in your computer), a virus needs a living host to reproduce. Think of it as kind of a Trojan horse, that starts with RNA which once inserted in the cell releases special amino acids, Enzyme synthesis (wrenchs) which copy the RNA to a DNA chunk that will be inserted and replicated by the host DNA. An example of a well known interaction is E. Coli vs. T4. If you look at T4 it looks like a cross between the LEM ( lunar excursion module ) and a mosquito. Escherichia virus T4 - Wikipedia ,

Viral infection begins when viral DNA enters a bacterium, DNA is disrupted and alien replicated. Synthesis of viral structural proteins and their assembly is continued until the cell ruptures or burst releasing partials. The morphogenetic path of T4 is three branches, independently forming a Head , tail and tail fibers that combine to form the complete virus particles ( Hanawalt and Haynes , The Chemical Basis of life p. 237) the “labile factor”.
I know bla bla bla, but if your interested here is something very informative, involving the idea of viruses, it's from a Dr. Strecker and is a real good look at what happens on our planet and who is probably behind the effort, its about AIDS. Think about some of the acronyms associated through the development of the disease, GRID, AIDS and HIV, just add your own “E” and you should be seeing a picture develop in front of you. farther discussion will proceed on concepts of Recognition, Disguises, Labeling or the game however you would like to deal with it. The concept is self referencing and self replication, which is a virus but does not qualify as a life form because it lacks the mechanical engine to reproduce (independently). The key is tricking the cell into making the wrong proteins.

This made me think of a movie I saw where humans were compared to viruses in that our behavior is extremely similar, if not the same.

Wildlife experts are examining another 50 ducks found dead along the Bow River on Wednesday, bringing the total number of dead birds discovered this week to 115.
