Who Are You? Ok Paul. I'm in love with you. I taught in California for about four years--I had a hard time finding people who had actually read Emerson. New England is Emerson country; the grocer down the road references Self-Reliance and The Soul I come from a long line of Scotch-Irish ditch diggers. We have been in America for five generations and our primary skills are surviving wars, paying taxes, and reading poetry. We like fist fighting too. The women who marry us are usually dark-haired spitfires who love us for our confidence and complete honesty about our lack of skills. And they make us do the cooking. I have worked as a salesman, a cabinetmaker, a group living counselor, a literature instructor, and a farm hand. Tragic reason for this zig zag path: I found my Father's copy of Emerson when I was 16--while I was playing with it, it went off. I am a geek as well. Although I identified with Kirk while most of my math-savvy friends identified with Spock. I was beat up for reading Heinlein (Starship Troopers) when I was 13. Yes I fought back. I am a member of this community because of the Titor event.
