I see .. Interesting analogy with the lightning .. it reminds me of an experience of my own – in 2007, the first lightning that hit the small city where I live, happened to hit my computer. It was round 2 AM, I was asleep and the whole process sounded like a bomb went off in the other room .. it scared the shit out of me. Now that you mentioned it, I realize that it was the newest device I had in my house. It was only partially affected – the network card, the video card and the RAM memory got fried, but everything else was OK. Nothing else was affected in any way, even though the other electrical devices were pretty old – heating device (water and rooms heat), fridge, washing machine, TV set, etc. I also realized then, why I had this bad luck – the LAN connection was aerial, through a cable outside the building, which probably took over part of the static electricity, which is most unpredictable about lightning. The building had a grounding system (that antenna-type thing on top and the metal stripe going from it to the ground/underground), so there are ways to prevent even extremely unpleasant events. Of course, I am aware that a 100% analogy between electricity (lightning) and biology (human body) can not be made. This virus issue is probably much more complex .. as I mentioned before, I know nothing about this stuff.
