A Poem I wrote...

Since the Entertainment section is up, I thought I'd post a poem that I wrote at lunchtime in the school library today. It's kind of a weird poem, as it doesn't follow any particular rules. Feel free to comment on it, whether you think it's rubbish or okay.

Anyway, here goes...

"NOTHING LASTS FOREVER"

"Nothing lasts forever," you said.
Nothing.
"Nobody lives forever," you said.
Nobody.
"There is no such word as forever," you said.

FOREVER
FOREVER
FOREVER

If there is no such word, then why does it exist?
Why is it a part of modern vocabulary?
What does it become when separated?

"FOR" - "EVER"

Does that mean anything?

REVEROF IS FOREVER backwards.
Maybe I should know it as that.
But why should I?
Why should I concede that "nothing
lasts forever?" Why?

Because you said so? Just because you
said so, and I'm expected to take your
word for it? What molecules of knowledge
did you ever collect?

You - You said "FOREVER" was an illusion
Designed to insulate humans from the painful
Reality of Everything being Lost.

You scoffed at "Forever."
You never gave it a chance.
How could it establish itself when you
said it didn't exist?

You can't answer me, can you?
Your silence will last forever, because
You can't answer and you're not even
Going to try to.

What about the Afterlife?
Don't we live FOREVER after we've died?

How do YOU know everything is lost
after Death? Suppose our possessions/
homes/material items/buildings/cars/
shops/restaurants/whatnot
Reappear after Death? You've never
Died, so how can you say?

I've had enough. Forever exists
For Everyone who accepts it.
I like FOREVER.
I want FOREVER.
I want all good things to last...
FOREVER.

I've disassociated myself from You
And your negative know-it-all
Statements.

This is what I see, and this is how
I'll see it.

But...
You say...
"Nothing lasts forever..."
